MICHAELA OCONNELL
Contemporary Portrait Artist

Michaela O Connell is a contemporary portrait artist from County Waterford. She completed her B.A. in Fine Art (Painting) in Limerick School of Art and Design in 2013.
Since then Michaela has shown work in various galleries around Ireland, including a solo show in The Marketplace Gallery, Armagh in 2016 and most recently in The Courthouse Gallery, Clare.
Michaela’s work is inspired by the solitude of one’s inner world, connections, intimacy, and the subconscious. Through her paintings she offers the viewer a mirror to reflect their own inner world. There is often a stillness to the work which is emphasized through a muted, earthy palette and soft facial expressions that gaze back at the viewer.
Although Michaela predominantly works with oils, she also likes to create more playful works in a range of materials, these can vary from still life nudes to nature and animals.
Commissions
Michaela has been creating commissions for years and considers it an honor to produce a unique and personal gift for someone. When completing a commission, Michaela is in regular contact with the buyer as it is important that it is what they envisioned and to their taste. A commissioned artwork captures a memory, a loved one, or part of someone’s story. It is a meaningful gift for any occasion and something that will be cherished for years to come. There are a range of different size and medium options available that you can choose from. For more information please contact Michaela.
Prints
Limited edition prints of Michaela’s work are available to purchase. An art print is a wonderful way to support local artists and accumulate artwork at a more affordable cost. All prints are signed by Michaela and come with the option of framing and gift wrapping. There are two types of paper options available for prints: high quality Glicée prints or artist quality 300gsm paper. Both options are available in either A5, A4, or A3 size.
“When you buy something from an artist, you’re buying more than an object. You are buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy. You’re not buying just one thing, you are buying a piece of a heart, a piece of a soul. A small piece of someone else’s life.”
